The Sound Current of Kundalini Yoga
The sound from mantras helps to channel and direct the energy released through practice. Because of this focus on mantra, many musicians and yogis who love to chant are drawn to this practice.
The tradition of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan has a wealth of talented musicians.
Yogi Bhajan specifically requested that in Kundalini Yoga classes, teachers only play 3HO music, or classical indian kirtan. Why? Again, because the sound current is so central to the practice, and because practice opens your sensitivity. In that open sensitive space, he asks us to plant a seed of consciousness, through the musical vibrations we introduce into the space.
